Insomnia

By Brad McClain

By the breathing pond,
While consumed by its misty breath,
I met Insomnia.
"Why are your eyes wide and soul tired?"
"My wife," he replied, "has disappeared into
The moonlight."
"Can I help you find her?" I asked.
"Yes. She's pale with dark features and an
Air of peace."
"What is her name?" I asked.
"Rest."
We looked high upon grassy peaks
And low into snowy valleys.
At last, we found her
Under a tree down by that pond,
Having an affair with Slumber.
Insomnia lay down beside her,
Embraced her,
And then Insomnia was no more.

Title : Insomnia sounds like some kinds of island, like "Neverland" or "Narnia".

Paraphrase : By the pond, the Author met Insomnia, who was his wife 'rest.' Under a tree, they found 'Rest.' Then, Insomnia embraced her and vanished.

Connotation : 'breathing pond' is personification, describing the pondl; 'Slumber','Rest' is refering to people.

Attitude : kind of like questioning, and finding someone/thing.

Shift : in the end, Insomnia found Rest and then vanished.

Theme : We are in the world that is searching for rest. When we eventually find it we all let ourselves go to the world's rest.

The Lamb

Little Lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?
Gave thee life, and bid thee feed,
By the stream and o'er the mead;
Gave thee clothing of delight,
Softest clothing, woolly, bright;
Gave thee such a tender voice,
Making all the vales rejoice?
Little Lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?

Little Lamb, I'll tell thee,
Little Lamb, I'll tell thee.
He is called by thy name,
For He calls Himself a Lamb.
He is meek, and He is mild;
He became a little child.
I a child, and thou a lamb,
We are called by His name.
Little Lamb, God bless thee!
Little Lamb, God bless thee!

Title : It's about little lamb
Paraphrase : It talks about a guy telling a lamb who created it all.
Connotation : rhyme, simile, and personification.
Attitude : Author is objective.
Shift : one shift in tenth stenza.
Theme : all of us are son of God and Jesus called himself a lamb and came down this world with human looking.

Dear, if you change, I'll never choose again

By John Dowland

Dear, if you change, I’ll never choose again;
Sweet, if you shrink, I’ll never think of love;
Fair, if you fail, I’ll judge all beauty vain;
Wise, if too weak, more wits I’ll never prove.
Dear, sweet, fair, wise,-change, shrink, nor be not weak;
And on my faith, my faith shall never break.

Earth with her flowers shall sooner heaven adorn;
Heaven her bright stars through, earth’s dim globe shall move;
Fire heat shall lose, and frosts of flame be born;
Air, made to shine, as black as hell shall prove:
Earth, heaven, fire, air, the world transformed shall view,
Ere I prove false to faith, or strange to you.

This poem basically means the author will never forget who he/she loves.
no matter what condition he'll never stop love her.
